+ About this map
Mount Bross rises to 14,178 feet in Colorado’s Mosquito Range above the old mining town of Alma. It is one of the four summits of the Decalibron loop with Democrat, Cameron and Lincoln, and it is notable for its broad, flat top, wide enough that the actual high point is hard to pick out. The summit sits on private mining claims, and old roads and workings cover the upper slopes.
This map traces a mountain shaped like a table. The contour lines spread far apart across the summit plateau, then tighten into steeper bands as the flanks drop toward Kite Lake and the head of Buckskin Gulch. Mount Lincoln, the highest ground on the sheet, rises just to the north. The elevation on this map runs from about 11,100 feet to just under 14,300 feet, with most of the relief concentrated on the flanks rather than the crest.
